In 9 months, Don and I will celebrate our 10th aniversary. I can’t believe it….where did all of that time go? I’m so excited to celebrate this miletsone – I have the best husand ever. He is such a wonderful friend and an amazing father to Reagan and Rylee. We are planning to take a trip somewhere to celebrate. (any suggestions? It can’t cost a fortune cause we definitely don’t have one)

So anyway, I have a goal – I want to get back to my pre-Reagan weight before October rolls around. That means I have to lose about 25 pounds. ugghhhh… Here are some things that I am doing to try and get my you-know-what back in shape:

    • No Sweet Tea or Coffee (this is huge for me, I’m an addict – but I haven’t had any since Christmas!)
    • Water, Water, Water!
    • Avoid sugar during the week (after the Daniel Fast is over, I plan to allow sugar in moderation on the weekends)
    • No fried foods – at all
    • Add lots of fresh veggies and salad
    • I put milled flax seed in everything – it’s so good for you – and it’s easy to incorporate into your diet since you really can’t taste it in other foods)
    • No red meat – we are eating chicken, turkey and fish only except for special occasions
    • Whole wheat products only
    • Starting to add workouts into my routine – this has been difficult during the week with the babies but I’m trying! The Biggest Loser Small Group at church is helping with this one – it’s pretty much kicking my butt.

So – it’s not really a resolution, because I suck at those – but it is a goal that I feel is necessary and attainable. So, what about you? Do you have any health goals and what have you done to try and meet them?

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks – as you can see from my two earlier posts, we took some of the students from GAFA to an incredible conference in Durham. We had a great time. Don and the kids came with me. Since I’m still nursing Rylee, this was the only way that I would have been able to go. It was our first trip with the girlie and I was a little nervous about the two hour car ride and two nights with all of us in the same room. But we did great – so fun!

Reagan started showing signs of having a cold on the trip back home. Sooooo….this week we’ve been dealing with ear infections in both kids and nasty colds. Rylee actually lost her voice by Wednesday – it was so sad to see her open up her mouth to squeel or laugh and nothing would come out!

I finally got Reagan one of THESE. The Leap Frog “Tag” is an amazing little gadget that has ignited such joy and amazement in Reagan. He is IN LOVE with it and I have really enjoyed seeing him have so much fun learning new things! If you have kids age 3-8 this is a great investment. The initial kit is $50 and includes the Tag “pen” and one book. Additional books are $14 at Target but I found them on line at Toys R Us for $9.99 each! So far he has the Kung Fu Panda, Olivia, and Cars books as well as the alphabet board and a set of land and sea animal cards.

Our church is observing a 21 day fast this month. It’s been exciting to see how many people have gotten on board and are trusting God for breakthroughs in our personaly lives and in the life of our church. My brother has been posting some great devos during the fast – go check them out! I have decided to fast caffeine, sugar, dairy products and all processed/fast foods.

I’ve been feeling secluded lately – being a stay at home mom is such an wonderful privaledge and I do not second guess my decision for one second. I do, however, realize that stay at home moms MUST make significant efforts to maintain friendships, generate new ones, and remain faithful to pursue your passions. It’s so much harder than I thought it was going to be – and infinitely more rewarding than I could have ever imagined!

    I hate laundry.

Gonna tackle my closet tomorrow – it’s a scary thought and I’ve been avoiding it for months – but it’s gotta be done. Yuck…

    I haven’t done one of these in a while…but I think I just need to…

    • There is a guy who appears to be in his mid-twenties that roams around our neighborhood on his VERY LOUD scooter…a lot. He seems to have some mental deficiencies and I have been feeling a little sorry for him – but yesterday when he rode by my house about 20 times during my kids nap time and woke Rylee up several times, I was not feeling very gracious any more. At 10:00 last night, he started it again and I seriously thought I was going to lose it.
    • Reagan is getting his hair cut today – think he needs it?

    • Don has been working so much lately – I miss him. It was our anniversary yesterday and I think we had about 10 minutes alone…he did give me a foot rub, though! And we went out last Friday night for an amazing dinner at Port Land Grill and then went and saw a movie. That was the first time since Rylee was born that we’ve gone out on a real date.
    • Rylee is getting better at night. She’s going to bed about 8 every night and sleeping until about 4 – I’m trying to break her of this 4:00 thing but she’s being stubborn! (I wonder where she gets that from?)
    • Bryan asked me to be a part of the strategic planning meeting for Rock Church’s 2009 calendar. I made it to the first day of planning, but Rylee wouldn’t let me go the second day. She was a little cranky… Anyway, I have to say that I am very excited about 2009 at Rock Church – it’s going to a crazy and amazing year!
    • I’m so stinking excited about Fall! I love the crisp mornings and the fact that the grass has stopped growing! (It takes Don half a day to mow our lawn and I am kind of jealous for his time lately…)
    • I’m ready for the election to be OVER. Good grief – could they draw this process out just a bit more, please?
    • Scooter guy is passing by my house again as I am writing this post. AHHHHHHH!

What’s rattling around in your head these days?

So, I haven’t done one of these in a long time – and I’ve been missing the chance to just unload all of the random stuff bouncing around in my brain….

    • Rylee is turning out to be a pretty good sleeper. If I can just get her to drop that darn 3:30am feeding!
    • Reagan told me that bananas have potassium in them. How does a three year old know that?
    • Don’s mom is coming for her first visit since Rylee was born. She hasn’t seen Reagan in over a year and has yet to meet the girlie girl. Can’t wait to see her!
    • I’m addicted to Banana Chocolate Vivano’s from Starbucks.
    • I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brooke Fraser’s new live album – her voice is perfection.
    • As you can see from my previous post, don’t try an come at me with gossip – I’ve been trying to wash out my brain for days.
    • I talked with someone very special to me on Saturday – I hate that so many of my closest relationships are so far away. Pops, Mama Reba, Cindy, Stephanie, Mindy, Sarabess – I miss you all like I can’t even describe!
    • My friend, Rachel and her husband, Anthony, are talking about something very important over at her blog. Please go and read their story – you’ll have to scroll down a bit to find the first post and then read through them in order. I’m an sure that there are some of you who can relate and need to hear what they have to say.
    • Lisa Rinna’s lips are freaking huge! Good grief.
    • I’m excited about fall tv starting up next week.
    • David is doing an amazing job with the creative art’s team at Rock Church. I’m so thankful God sent him to us just at the right time!
    • Glory Academy is back up and running. We are everything that typical “church dance teams” are NOT. We exist to bring excellence and relevance back to the art of dance in the church. Help us spread the word! We have classes in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, pointe and hip hop from ages 3-adult. All new students receive a FREE LEOTARD for their class. Amazing….I know…
    • I need to figure out a way to bring in some extra money – something that I can do from home. Any suggestions? (I am bracing myself for the inevitable sarcastic suggestions from this guy and probably her, too.)
    • That’s enough for now…but I’ll leave you with this picture. Can you guess what Rylee is doing in this shot?
  • What A Day

Date: 2008.09.07 | Category: Church, family is everything | Response: 0

Last Sunday, Rock Church celebrated it’s 20th year in ministry and also the passing of the baton of leadership from my father, Pastor Ron McGee, to my brother, Bryan. The day was just so incredible – one we had looked forward to with excitement and a little nervousness for quite some time. The people of our church are so amazing and have shown such love and support throughout this process.

I just want to say how grateful I am to my dad for 20 years of wonderful leadership in this church and in this city. I didn’t know 20 years ago that it could be this good – but it has blown away all of my expectations. You are such a strong leader and I can’t wait to see how God continues to use you for the next 20 years.

And to my amazing big brother – I am so proud of you. Sometimes it’s hard to see the true potential of someone when you are so close to them but I have been so blessed to see how God has matured you and taught you some hard lessons to get you ready for such a time as this. I KNOW you can handle this and I KNOW that what we are stepping into is going to be a wild ride. We’re with you and have strapped ourselves in for the adventure!

I stole this video from Matthew – it kind of sums up the day…
