  • Making The Difficult Decisions

Date: 2008.03.18 | Category: Church, random thoughts | Response: 0

So, every now and then all of us have to stand our ground and do what God has called us to do – no matter what other people may say. It seems like this year I’ve had to do more of that than ever and I confess it is tiring. Fulfilling vision is NEVER easy – getting people to grasp the vision is NEVER easy – but that is our job – to help people “get it” so that they can “run with it”.

    Responsibility is heavy….

  • Monday Morning Thoughts

    Date: 2008.03.17 | Category: random thoughts | Response: 0

Hi, everyone! How did it get to be Monday again SO stinking fast? Where does the time go? I definitely think that as you get older the days go by so much more quickly and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. Anyway…here are some thoughts from the past week and weekend…

    • Last Tuesday and Wednesday we had our house completely torn apart. Stuart and his team from Carpet One came in and ripped out every single bit of flooring in my house and installed new hardwood and carpet. It was a big, dusty, messy job but now the house looks amazing and I feel like we are finally getting settled in after living here for six months. I’ll post some pictures later. Thanks, Stuart!
    • Reagan’s “big boy bunk-bed” was delivered on Friday. It has canopies, curtains, peep holes, a chalk board and cool little shelves and pockets everywhere for his collection of two year old “stuff”. He thinks he is the bomb right now…he’s right. (the bed came from Baby Swank – the coolest kids furniture store EVER!)
    • Don has officially become a Sodexho employee. They are the contract company that came in and took over his department at the hospital. He is really excited about this company and about the opportunity to be in charge of a new department and some exciting new things they are implementing. He was the first person they offered a management position to and I’m so proud of him! This is an answer to our prayers and I know it is going to be an exciting new season for him.
    • Drum roll please……we decided on a name for the girl! Rylee Lyric – destined to be the most spoiled, high maintenance girl ever. (at least thats what Christie says…) Let me know what you think about the name – but only if you like it :)
    • Glory Academy’s Celebration Dance Company ministered in our service yesterday and they were amazing! I’m so proud of our girls – and so thrilled that we have the opportunity to not only offer this community excellent technical dance training, but training in what it really means to use your gifts for the glory of God – you girls are amazing!
    • This week we are finishing up all the preparation for our Easter service this Sunday. This is the last Sunday in our Catalyst series and I am really excited about what this means for our church. If we can truly grasp what God is trying to say to us through this, we can change this city. Let’s do this!
    • Some exciting things coming for me and my family….I can see God’s hand all over us and I am honored by what He is doing.
    • Was it just me, or did it seem like the winner of the HGTV dream home last night could have been a little more excited about winning a multi-million dollar home in the Florida Keys AND a new car? Wow – if she doesn’t want the prize, I would be happy to take it off her hands for her. Good grief!
    • This is a picture of Reagan and his friend, Isabella, from their creative movement class this morning. Mrs. Melanie dressed them up as prince and princess and I just had to grab the IPhone and take get a shot of their cuteness! I’m not quite sure why a red puffy vest with snow flake on the side is considered a “prince” costume, other than it was probably the only thing in the GAFA closet that came close to making sense.

    • That’s all for now – I’ll post pics of the house later this week – tonight hopefully. BTW – if anyone wants to come help Don finish painting the inside – especially the nursery, let me know! Since I’m prego, I can’t help with that chore! (I’m really broken up about that, too)
  • I’m not jealous at all…

Date: 2008.03.12 | Category: Church, random thoughts | Response: 4

To the great big bunch of you that are leaving town today without me to go to Unleash….I’m not jealous of you at all…I’m happy to stay back and clean up ceramic tile dust from my house tonight. Really, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me here all by myself… (Johnny Fuller, I might actually be tearing up right now…just wanted you to know)

Have fun, guys! Love you all -

  • Baby Update…

    abbye-and-dony.jpg

This is the only recent picture I could find to give you all a baby bump update. I RUN from cameras lately! The picture is of me (obviously) and my other dad, Dony McGuire from The River at Music City. I traveled in ministry with him and his lovely wife, Reba, for two years and about once a year I make it to Nashville for a visit. Anyway – this is the latest view of the baby bump….

We have almost decided on a name! Hopefully I can post something in the next couple of days…so keep checking back. (I know you are all on pins and needles)

  • i’ve often wondered…

    Date: 2008.03.10 | Category: random thoughts | Response: 2

    • what would it be like to go back and start all over again…say from age 16?
    • why can’t i stay awake and read – it doesn’t matter what time of day i try or what amazingly exciting book i’m reading…my eyes just will not stay open.
    • what would happen if we really practiced unconditional love?
    • how far does god’s grace really reach? i think that if we really believed in the unconditional grace of god, we would have to re-think a lot of our theology
    • what it would feel like to be rich?
    • if i were tall, would it make a difference?
    • why does my house refuse to stay clean? i swear, dog hair and junk mail breed in the dark corners of my house…it’s weird
    • do i really deserve a child as precious as reagan? he has got to be the sweetest little thing on this earth and i don’t think i’ve ever been that sweet.
    • what is don really thinking?
    • what is the perfect hair color?
    • why can’t dogs talk? – we all know life would be easier if they could
    • why do we find it easier to judge than to love?

So, if you know any of the answers to these questions, feel free to leave me a comment. What have you always wondered? Hmmmmmm…..

have any of you ever really wanted to do something – something completely unexpected – but stopped short of actually taking the plunge because it seemed crazy? or unattainable? or financially suicidal?

of course not -  i’m sure none of you have ever faced this…

  • Monday Morning Thoughts on Tuesday

    Date: 2008.03.04 | Category: random thoughts | Response: 0

I was out yesterday with a snotty little toe-head. Reagan has been yucky for a couple of weeks and when his regular Monday nanny, Donna, had to go out of town to a memorial service, I got to stay home with my boy! I have to admit that he is the best little guy in whole world – even when he’s sick he is so much fun. I could hang out with him all day every day. :)

So – my thoughts from the weekend… I know you’re all absolutely dying to know…

    • My smoochie gave me a gift certificate for a pre-natal massage on Valentine’s Day. So, Saturday I cashed in! Ki Spa has been voted #1 day spa in Wilmington for the past several years and I now know why. It was amazing. I could go every week for the rest of my pregnancy. (So, if anyone is wondering what gift they should get Abbye this week… hint, hint…)
    • We bought a big boy bed for Reagan Saturday. It’s a set of bunk beds with canopies and peep holes and pockets – he’s going to freak out when it arrives!
    • We are having the floors replaced in the whole house over the next couple of weeks. Please pray for my sanity -
    • Sunday morning pre-service rehearsal was, well….it was frustrating. Nothing sounded quite right and I just wasn’t feeling anything click like it should. But – as is usually the case – everyone brought it during the real deal. I finally felt like my voice is getting somewhat back to normal – just in time for this baby to be big enough to inhibit my ability to BREATH!
    • Rehearsal Sunday night – learning new worship stuff for the Easter series, Catalyst. I think the singers all felt a little stretched by the new stuff – but they know they can do it! (you can do it, guys…)
    • GAFA production, “Creation” in 2 1/2 months. Eeeek! I’m going to go throw up now…
    • It’s 74 degrees outside right now. Reagan is at the beach today with Donna – I’m not jealous at all. :)
    • 16 weeks until baby girl arrives! (no, we have NOT decided on a name yet. Good grief!)

    Have a fabulous week!
