  • Looking Ahead

Date: 2008.02.13 | Category: Believe, Evolution, random thoughts | Response: 0

I just read a post from a dear friend of mine, Christopher. We are the same age – grew up together – and have been in what seems to be parallel mental universes for the past year or so. Anyway…I am so proud of him – he is following his dream and taking the steps to make it a reality in his life. Go read the post and find out what is going on in his world…

He challenges me to take my dreams seriously – to stop letting them just hang out on the shelf where they’ve been for so many years. What would the world be like if we all truly went for it? Hmmmmm…

  • Thoughts From The Weekend

    • Got a call from my doctor on Thursday to tell me my strep test came back positive. Great…I’m not real big on antibiotics anyway, but especially while I’m pregnant. They are way too over-prescribed and generally work against our bodies’ God-given ability to heal itself. But – I definitely do not want to pass strep on to the baby so I reluctantly began the 10 day hell of prescription drugs…yuck.
    • I went on a cleaning binge Saturday…it had gotten way out of hand at my house and was almost at intervention status. I can breathe a bit easier now…
    • Sunday went really well – especially given the fact that I was leading worship while still recovering from strep throat. When I am weak, He is strong! My team is amazing and I am blessed week after week to work with such dedicated and passionate people. We had Neil Blake ministering with us – he is planning a HUGE festival in Israel this May - if I wasn’t having a baby about that time I would definitely be heading that way. So, in preparation for his ministry with us, our list was: You Give Me Joy, Great God, We Speak To Nations (Israel Houghton) & Hear Us From Heaven (Jared Anderson). Great set list – perfect for the message that followed and just some of my favorite songs…
    • Got to watch some of the Grammy’s last night until I fell asleep right before Amy Winehouse performed. (of course) I kept wondering if they were actually going to give out any awards? Geez – I think they were an hour into the show and had only given out two Grammy’s. What’s up with that? There were several really great performances and a lot that I could have done without. I do have to say that even though I LOVE Alicia Keys – I can not stand it when she leans over to play the piano and sticks her butt out…it just looks awkward…
    • My dear friend, Israel Anthem was nominated for best video direction for Mute Math’s Typical video. I am so excited for him! The Johnny Cash video took home the prize, but I’m sure it was such an honor for him to be nominated! Congratulations, Iggs!
    • Did you hear….we’re having a GIRL!!!!

  • Let The Shopping Commence!

Yesterday Don and I went to have our ultrasound to find out what we were having. We went through Port City Java on the way so I could load up on some sugar to ensure an active baby and a better chance for a clear picture of the pertinent anatomy. We got all settled in and this was the very first image that appeared on the screen….

Thanks for cooperating, baby girl! Can you believe it?! We’re having a girl! I’m so excited I can barely stand it… Here’s another great shot we got…

Can you guess what the first order of business was? The shopping began and you know it’s not going to ever stop…girls are expensive and Don is now a very scared man. :)

The first McGee granddaughter – this little girl is going to be one spoiled princess…

  • I’m Back….

I’m finally back in the office after being out sick for two days. I’m not completely recovered yet, but there is much to do so no more lounging for me! The piles are exactly where I left them, the message light is blinking at me on my phone and I haven’t even dared go look in my box.

The next week is going to be crazy. We have to get everything finalized for our marathon trip to Nashville and Texas. Carolyn, Matthew and the rest of my GAFA staff are all loading up next Friday and heading out. I’ve got to get my house organized so that Don and Reagan can survive comfortably while I’m away for nine days. This is the longest I’ve ever been away from my boy and I’m not quite sure how I’m going to react to that much cuteness deprivation.

Enough chit chat…I’ve got work to do!

    My thoughts from the weekend…

    reagan-pirate.jpg

    • My son is an amazing little guy. He told his father last night that he was “a good woman”. Then, yesterday at lunch, he was almost on the verge of going in a time out for not eating his food. Don said to him, “Reagan, eat your food or you’re going to get in trouble!” Reagan sat there with great contemplation for a moment and then did karate chop moves in the air while saying, “You want a piece of me?” It was all over at that point. How can you discipline a kid when you can’t stop laughing long enough to form words?
    • I have to confess, I did not watch much of the game last night. Don was painting in the living room and I couldn’t stand the fumes. I did come out long enough to eat some amazing nachos and see Tom Petty at half time. Then I fell asleep reading, “The Pillars of the Earth” about 9:00…I’m so old…
    • We had a great service yesterday. The band played a couple of new songs. (one went soooo much better than the other. I won’t name which one or “who” was at fault for that one….) I have a fantastic team and they always rock it out every week. This year is going to stretch us beyond what we’ve ever done, but I’m ready and I believe they are, too. The set list yesterday was: O Taste And See (Brian and Jenn Johnson), Great God (Ricardo Sanchez), Again I Say Rejoice (Israel), How Wonderful (Leeland) and You Are Worthy (Hillsong). I need to remember that I’m pregnant when I pick these set lists, for crying out loud! There were moments during worship yesterday that I thought I was going to pass out from oxygen deprivation!
    • We are in quite a commotion to get some things done around here. The May Glory Academy production is looming over us and we have to get production packets ready for all of our students this week! Final music selections are happening as I type and we finished ordering all the costumes last week. whew!
    • Creative Meeting tonight for our Easter series…..Fun!
    • Yesterday we presented our plan to overhaul the stage/performance space in the sanctuary. HUGE project that is going to require HUGE money but we believe in the vision and that our people are on board to help make it happen. Let’s do this!
    • We find out Friday whether we’re having a boy or a girl. (If it’s a girl, let the shopping commence!)

So, I read a lot of blogs. Probably too many. But they are a way to learn and escape and dream and live vicariously…and I never really believe that anyone actually reads mine. But I got SO excited when I logged on today and saw that I have had 145 visitors just today! That may not sound like a lot to this guy or this amazing lady, but for me it’s a bright spot in my day to think that that many people actually care about what is going on in my life. I’m trying to figure out why they do care…what sends you all over here?

Here’s what would make my day even happier…if you’re one of those 145 people that are stopping by, leave me some comment love and tell me what you think! (do I really want to hear this?)
