Going All The Way
So – Bryan and Carolyn have both blogged about this book and I don’t want to feel so left out. I haven’t read the book yet – but I’ve read Craig’s writing before and I can PROMISE you that you won’t be dissapointed. I will definately be checking this one out as soon as I can get it – you should, too. I’m anticipating discovering all of the things I did wrong when I date my husband. Thank you, Lord, for grace!
So – go order your copy NOW

I Love My Job
So, today – on my day off, I had to go to a Glory Academy Company Parent Meeting. I wasn’t happy about this initially – it’s my day off, you know! So – I drug myself away from my snuggly couch and drove to the church. We had to do some “house cleaning” with our parents and company students before the season got too far away from us. Mrs. Casey began the meeting by addressing some things and talking over some details before she had a rehearsal for their Riverfest performance next weekend. Then my reluctance to give away my Saturday afternoon began to melt away. I remembered why I do this thing in the first place.
I think I have one of the best jobs on the planet. I get to facilitate the fulfillment of purpose in these young girls’ lives. Their parents trust us with their children and we get to train them, encourage them and help them become dancers who express themselves with excellence and passion – dancers who take the world’s opinion of arts in the church (that it’s sub-par, cheesy, bathrobe wearing moms doing circle dances and waving tamborines all over the place) and tell them where they can put that opinion. We are here to be BETTER than the studio down the street that has their dancers in half tops and daisy dukes shaking their rumps to music that degrades women and the human race in general. This is our opportunity to do something fabulous – something people tell us we can’t – something this city doesn’t expect and may not be ready for.
As I watched our students and their parents begin to really “get it” I got so excited – this is why I’m here doing what I’m doing. We’re going to make history in this city!
Want to help us? Tell somebody….help us grow this academy into the biggest, craziest, off the hook expression of excellence this city has ever seen! Tell your neighbors, your co-workers, your family members, your barista – whoever – just tell them! (thanks…)

I Feel Like I’m Falling for Fall
So – we took our first trip to the pumpkin patch today. The first time it starts to hint at cooler temperatures, I start aching for yellow and rust colored mums, fat pumpkins and dried up gourds. Don looks at me and rolls his eyes – he doesn’t understand my love for fall – but Reagn does. He runs around the patch grunting and trying his darndest to pick them all up, yelling, “need help, mama!” so everyone can hear.
I think Stephanie is one of my best friends ever because we share this love affair with October. (Steph, I thought about you today – wishing we could hunt the perfect pumpkin together. These miles hurt my heart…)

All The Boys
These kids – my Reagan…he loves, loves, loves his cousins! Wednesdays are one of Reagan’s favorite days because he gets to go to Aunt Jen’s house for his nap and then come to the church with the guys and play like a mad man! They all came in my office and took tons of pictures with my new Mac Photo Booth. (did I mention that I’m in love with this computer?)
I’m grateful for my family…it’s nice to live so close to them so that we can all hang out!

What happens when we start to get a clue
My brother posted a great piece about our service this past Sunday. I am so excited to see God’s people transitioning into this season where we are truely after God’s heart. When we are after God’s heart, we will go after His children who are lost and unconnected. We will begin to cry out for Him to break our hearts for what breaks His – to open up our eyes to the things that we haven’t yet seen.
Matthew is one of my favorite photographers – he took these great pictures of the service. Thanks for documenting this transition, Matthew – let’s make history!

Very Cool
“When destiny does anoint them, how can they hide from it?”
I didn’t get into Heroes last season, but I’m sitting here surfing the web with the TV on and I just happened to hear this line in the opening narration on the season premiere. I was floored.
All around me I am being challenged…provoked…called to action. We as a church are being called to a new level of responsibility. We can’t hide from it anymore. We must not continue to run from our mandate. The 100,000 are crying out, looking for something more, asking questions and no one is answering them. The thing is – we have the answers!
I’m just sayin’…..

This is what I have to work with….
Wow – We have to get some cooler people around here. These two just send our cool points down the you know what….

Imagine…
There is something happening around here…something unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. People are getting stirred up and excited to really get out there and reach this city. When we first heard the number…100,000…we were all stunned. I mean, Wilmington isn’t that big so that is a HUGE number – the number of people in our city who are not connected in a church – the number of people who are not actively living their lives with Christ in it – the number of people that God requires us to go out and find. This is not optional, it is our mandate and I think we’re finally getting it. I can see it on your faces and actually feel it in the air. But this realization comes with a price…it’s going to take sacrifice and a willingness to get out of our comfort zones. WAY out.
Every Sunday, we have an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. I want to always anticipate that the hurting and the lost are going to show up and make sure that I am ready for them. Are we ready? Let’s get out there and invite TONS of people to come worship with us on the weekends and then prepare for their arrival. Imagine what could happen if we gave ourselves to the salvation of this city? Imagine what could happen if we stepped outside of our little boxes and got a little dirty in the process of seeing this city changed! Are we up for it?

I Love My Boyfriends!
There is nothing better than this…nothing. I came home tonight from our Creative Arts Meeting and nuggled on the couch with my two boyfriends. I love all of my church family, but I have to say that I’d much rather hang out with these two.
